Michigan Water Utility Companies

Many residents experience their water department only through service vehicles blocking roads, technicians working on pipes, or as a voice on the phone during service inquiries. Behind the scenes, however, are dedicated filtration plant operators and safety personnel who monitor, test, and maintain water quality standards daily.

Our Customer Service Center handles inquiries during business hours, with plant operators taking over after hours. While most issues are resolved quickly, during outages (power, water, or cable), the only update may be that repairs are underway with service restoration expected as soon as possible.

This article presents Wyandotte Municipal Service Water Department's water quality data for 2015. Some information may be older than one year as state regulations allow less frequent testing for certain stable contaminants. All data represents the actual quality of water delivered to residents.

Regarding water contaminants: All water sources, including bottled water, naturally contain some level of contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).

Vulnerable populations: People with compromised immune systems (cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, elderly individuals, and infants) may be particularly susceptible to infections. These individuals should consult healthcare providers about their water consumption. CDC/EPA guidelines on reducing infection risks are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline.

Our water comes from Detroit Lake. A 2005 state assessment rated our source water as "highly sensitive" based on geologic factors, water chemistry, and potential contamination sources. For more information, contact Bill Weirich at 734-324-7142.
