Florida Water Utility Companies

We're proud to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report to our customers. This document outlines the quality of water and services we provide daily. Our primary mission is delivering safe, dependable water to your home. We continuously strive to enhance our treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources.

Our water comes from two groundwater wells that tap into the Floridan Aquifer. Thanks to the naturally high quality of our water, we only need to add chlorine for disinfection purposes. In 2017, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection conducted a Source Water Assessment of our system, identifying one potential contamination source with a low susceptibility level.

The Baker Water System regularly monitors for contaminants according to all federal and state regulations. This report reflects testing results from January through December 2017, with some older data included as required by regulations.

Regarding lead in drinking water: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health issues, particularly for pregnant women and young children. While we provide high-quality water, we can't control the materials in your home's plumbing. To minimize potential exposure after water has been sitting for several hours, flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using it for drinking or cooking.

All drinking water sources (tap and bottled) contain some contaminants naturally. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

To maintain our reliable service, occasional system improvements are necessary. These costs may affect our rate structure. This year, we're implementing a $0.25 monthly increase to the base rate, bringing it to $15.25 for 0-3000 gallons. Usage beyond 3000 gallons will remain at $3.50 per thousand gallons.

If you have questions about this report or our water utility, please contact Wanda Patterson at 850-537-5121. We encourage our customers to stay informed about their water service. Our regular meetings are held on the third Monday evening of each month.
