About Us
Municipal Water Safety Information: To ensure tap water is safe for consumption, the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and California's State Water Resources Control Board establish regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. State regulations also set similar standards for bottled water to provide equivalent public health protection.
This report contains information about your water source, its contents, and how it compares to State and USEPA standards. The tables list water contaminants detected between January and December 31, 2017. California permits less frequent monitoring for certain contaminants whose concentrations don't change often. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
All water sources, including bottled water, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the USEPA's Safe Drinking Water hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

About Fairfield History
Before 1810: The earliest inhabitants of the Fairfield area were Native Americans who settled in the Rockville and Green Valley regions. Archaeological excavations in Green Valley uncovered artifacts from the Ion culture dating back 5,000-6,000 years, representing some of Northern California's oldest evidence of indigenous settlements.
1810: Gabriel Moraga, the first recorded European in the area, led a Spanish military expedition against the local Suisun Indians. Despite fierce resistance, the Indians eventually retreated, with many reportedly setting their own homes ablaze rather than surrendering.
1835-1842: General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, under Mexican government orders, arrived to colonize the Suisun region. After initial conflicts with Chief Sem Yeto's tribes, they formed an alliance. In 1837, Chief Solano (Sem Yeto) obtained the Suisun Rancho land grant, which he later sold to Vallejo in 1842 for $1,000.
1856-1858: Captain Robert H. Waterman established the townsite of Fairfield, naming it after his Connecticut hometown. Waterman, a clipper ship captain, settled in Suisun Valley with his wife Cordelia (for whom that area is named). In 1858, voters approved moving the county seat from Benicia to Fairfield, with Waterman donating sixteen acres for county buildings.
1903-2009: Fairfield was formally incorporated as a city in 1903. In 1942, the establishment of Travis Air Force Base provided a significant economic boost. The base was annexed to Fairfield in 1966. By 2009, Fairfield's population had grown from 3,100 in 1950 to 106,502, becoming one of the Bay Area's most desirable urban centers.
