Local Government Structure
The city of Greenville was incorporated in 1831 and adopted the Council-Manager form of government in 1976. This structure consists of an elected City Council responsible for policy decisions and a professional City Manager appointed by the council to oversee administration. The City Manager provides strategic guidance, manages daily operations, handles personnel matters, and prepares the budget.
