About Us
Lead and Copper Information
City Amenities fully complies with the lead and copper provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act. In 2016, samples were collected from numerous residences as required by federal and state regulations. EPA guidelines require that at least 90% of samples must fall below the action level for both lead (15 ppb) and copper (1.3 ppm). Among the 57 homes sampled in 2016, none exceeded action levels for either contaminant.
Health Concerns About Lead
Elevated lead levels can pose serious health risks, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead levels may be higher in some homes due to plumbing materials used. To minimize exposure, flush your tap for 30 seconds before using water for consumption. Water testing is also available. For more information, contact the SAFE DRINKING WATER HOTLINE (800-426-4791) or visit WWW.EPA.GOV/SAFEWATER/LEAD.
Understanding Potential Contaminants
As water flows over land or through ground, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activities. Untreated water may contain:
- Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria)
- Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals)
- Organic chemicals from pesticides or industrial processes
- Radioactive materials
All water sources, including bottled water, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. However, their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA'S SAFE DRINKING WATER HOTLINE: 800-426-4791.
Special Information for Vulnerable Populations
Some individuals may be more susceptible to certain water contaminants than the general population. Immuno-compromised persons—including cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders, some elderly individuals, and infants—may be particularly vulnerable to infections. These individuals should consult healthcare providers about their drinking water. EPA and CDC guidelines on reducing infection risk from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the EPA hotline.
