About Us
We're pleased to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report. This document outlines the quality of water and services we deliver to you daily. Our constant goal is to provide you with a safe and dependable water supply. We want you to understand our efforts to continually improve the water treatment process and protect our valuable water resources.
Our water comes from nine Regional Utility wells with one interconnect with the City of Freeport. These wells draw from the Floridan Aquifer. The exceptional quality of our groundwater means only chlorine disinfection is required for treatment.
In 2017, the Department of Environmental Protection conducted a Source Water Assessment on both Regional Utilities and City of Freeport systems. This assessment identified potential contamination sources near drinking water wells. Four potential sources were found for the City of Freeport with susceptibility levels ranging from low to high. No potential contamination sources were identified near any Regional Utilities well sites. Assessment results are available at www.dep.state.fl.us/swapp.

We encourage customers to stay informed about their water utility. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM, and board meetings occur on the third Thursday of each month at 5:00PM.
Regional Utilities Water System routinely monitors for contaminants in your municipal water according to Federal and State regulations. This report presents monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2017, along with relevant data obtained before 2017 in accordance with regulations.
For your reference, here are key terms used in water quality reporting:
- Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): Highest level of a contaminant allowed in drinking water, set as close to MCLGs as possible using best available technology.
- Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG): Level of contaminant below which there is no known or expected health risk, allowing for a safety margin.
- Action Level (AL): Concentration of a contaminant which triggers treatment or other requirements.
- Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL): Highest level of disinfectant allowed in drinking water, based on evidence that disinfection is necessary to control microbial contaminants.

Regional Utilities Water System Municipal Water Company and EPARegional Utilities Water System Municipal Water Report Info
Florida Community Services Corp. of Walton County d/b/a Regional Utilities manages a comprehensive water and wastewater utility system through an agreement established with Walton County on July 16, 1985. Under this Franchise Agreement, the County granted Regional Utilities the exclusive right to develop, operate, and maintain water and wastewater infrastructure within the designated service area.
The service territory spans from the Sandestin Resort to Rosemary Beach for wastewater services, and from just east of Sandestin Resort to Rosemary Beach for water services. This area extends north to south from the Choctawhatchee Bay to the Gulf of Mexico.
Regional Utilities currently operates three wastewater treatment facilities and multiple well sites, including a submarine water pipeline connecting South Walton to the Rock Hill wellfield north of Freeport. The utility employs staff who operate both water and wastewater facilities and handle construction and installation of water and wastewater infrastructure. Regional Utilities currently serves approximately 18,000 customers throughout the region.
