New York CDC Tap Water Info

For more information on your municipal water, visit the U.S. CDC:

DANC (Watertown / Ft. Drum) Municipal Water Company and CDC
  1. Q: Can I connect my sump pump, roof leaders, and/or downspouts to the sanitary sewer line? A: No. This violates U.S.T. Ordinance #234 which prohibits directing storm water into the sanitary sewer system. This ordinance, established in 1984, carries a maximum fine of $1,000.00 per day and potential 90-day imprisonment.
  2. Q: Which household fixtures consume the most water?
    • Toilet flushing: 40%
    • Bath & shower: 32%
    • Laundry: 14%
    • Dishwashing: 6%
    • Cooking and Drinking: 5%
    • Bathroom sink: 3%
  3. Q: Where does wastewater go after it leaves my home? A: If connected to the sewer system, all drains in your home connect to a single pipe leading to the street. This pipe collects wastewater from other homes and flows to a central pumping station. Since we lack a treatment facility, our wastewater is pumped to Philadelphia via Lower Southampton Township for treatment and purification.
  4. Q: What is the source of the Water Authority's supply? A: The Water Authority obtains approximately 80% from North Penn/North Wales and roughly 20% from three deep municipal wells located throughout town.
  5. Q: What is the certification process and fee? A: Certification requests should include property address, owner & customer names, settlement date, and fax number for the final invoice. Submit to Fax: 215-364-9410 or Mail: PO Box 481, Southampton, PA 18966-0481. Certification Fee: $50.
