About Us
Golden State Water extends sincere gratitude to California customers for their exceptional conservation efforts, and encourages everyone to continue using water resources wisely to support the state's drought recovery journey. Following a series of unusually dry winter periods, all residents must adopt water-efficient practices as part of California's standard way of life.
On May 9, 2016, Governor Jerry Brown issued an Executive Order permanently prohibiting wasteful water practices. These restrictions include banning the hosing of sidewalks and driveways, requiring shut-off nozzles for car washing, prohibiting decorative fountains without recirculation systems, preventing excessive landscape runoff, restricting outdoor watering within 48 hours after rainfall, and banning potable water irrigation of public median turf.

The water delivered to customers in the Barstow System comes from groundwater pumped from the Mojave River Basin-Centro Sub-Basin, which forms the central portion of the Mojave Basin extending northwesterly and southeasterly from the Mojave River.
