About Us
The Clay County Power Authority consistently monitors for contaminants in your municipal water in accordance with Federal and State regulations. Except where otherwise noted, this report is based on testing results from January 1 to December 31, 2018. Any data collected before January 1, 2018 and presented here comes from the most recent testing conducted in compliance with all regulations.
Our region is fortunate to have plentiful water resources. Our supply comes from the Floridan Aquifer, a massive underground reservoir spanning approximately 100,000 square miles across southern Alabama, southeastern Georgia, southern South Carolina, and throughout Florida. The Floridan Aquifer contains high-quality groundwater that's naturally protected deep below the surface. Geological formations called confining layers shield this groundwater from contamination.
Locally, Keystone Heights serves as a primary recharge area for the Floridan Aquifer. Natural replenishment from as far away as Georgia helps maintain adequate water levels. We utilize 26 wells across 11 separate treatment plants (known collectively as the Orange Park Grid) to extract water from depths averaging 1,500 feet. After extraction, the water undergoes aeration and disinfection before being distributed to homes.
The Clay County Utility Authority's highest priority is ensuring safe municipal water. To secure future water resources, we've implemented comprehensive protection and conservation programs.
The Authority's Board of Directors meets at 2:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday monthly. These public meetings take place in the boardroom at 3176 Old Jennings Rd., Middleburg, FL 32068. Additional information is available on our website at http://www.clayutility.org. For questions about water quality, please contact Richard Pendiente or Amy Palmeri. To arrange facility tours for organizations, contact our public relations department at 904-272-59.
