Our water comes from groundwater sources. Our wells draw from the Columbia Aquifer, part of the Pleistocene Formation sands. The Columbia Aquifer consists of coarse sand and gravel with distinct bedding and pebble segregations forming bands of gravel.

Water from our active wells is pumped to treatment facilities where it undergoes disinfection, pH adjustment, and corrosion control. The Delaware Division of Public Health, in partnership with DNREC, has conducted a source water assessment of our wells. This assessment evaluated our system's vulnerability to various contaminants, finding it at high risk for certain substances. We monitor for numerous constituents in your tap water according to federal and state regulations. Our testing results from January through December 2017 are detailed in our annual report. For some contaminants, we test less frequently as concentrations typically remain stable.
