SOURCE OF YOUR MENOMONEE FALLS WATER Well Stations #8, #9, and #10 serve the ground water service area. The source is groundwater pumped from three wells.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION All municipal water may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. However, their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. Individuals with compromised immune systems—such as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, some elderly individuals, and infants—may be particularly vulnerable to infections. EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells. As water travels over land or through ground, it dissolves natural minerals, sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity. Potential contaminants include:

• Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) from natural sources, urban runoff, wastewater discharges, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
• Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential uses
• Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, runoff, and septic systems
• Radioactive contaminants from natural sources or mining/oil/gas production

To ensure tap water safety, EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. FDA regulations set similar limits for bottled water to provide equal public health protection. Approximately 95% of Wisconsin communities obtain water from underground supplies (groundwater) through wells.
