About Us
Elevated lead levels in water can pose serious health risks, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in water primarily comes from materials used in service lines and home plumbing. Marion County Utilities provides quality municipal water but cannot control plumbing materials used in homes. When water sits for several hours, you can reduce potential lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking. If concerned about lead, consider having your water tested. Information about lead in water, testing methods, and exposure reduction is available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline or at http://www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.
Municipal water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals, sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity. Potential contaminants include:
- Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, wastewater discharges, oil/gas production, and mining
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban stormwater runoff, and residential uses
- Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organics from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, stormwater runoff, and septic systems
- Radioactive contaminants that can be naturally occurring or result from oil/gas production and mining
EPA regulations limit contaminant levels in public water systems, while FDA regulations establish limits for bottled water to provide the same public health protection. All municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.

Beautiful Oak Run in Ocala, Florida stands as one of several award-winning communities developed by respected builder Kulbir Ghumman, owner and president of DECCA (Development and Construction Corporation of America). Since 1983, DECCA has been among the most prominent and trusted names in Marion County development, operating as a family-owned company committed to integrity and reliability in the flourishing real estate market.
Oak Run Country Club was conceived as the developer's 'hidden gem'. Situated on 1400 acres in what was then a quiet Ocala, the property's rolling landscapes and abundant water reservoirs reminded the developer of his childhood in the Himalayan foothills. Today, with over 7,000 residents and six exceptional recreational facilities (including eleven pools and spas, two fitness centers, tournament tennis courts, shuffleboard, bocce amenities, billiards, pottery studios and more), Oak Run represents active adult living at its finest.
Often described by residents as their 'personal piece of paradise,' Oak Run consistently meets and exceeds the expectations of those who call it home. Recognized in a Reader's Digest guide as one of America's Best Residential and Recreational Communities for Vacation, Retirement and Investment Living, DECCA's Oak Run development exemplifies Florida's premier adult living communities. Florida Builder has named Oak Run the "Retirement Community of the Year."
The DECCA family tradition of excellence is built into each Oak Run home with personal attention that has earned DECCA recognition as Central Florida's leading developer of affordable, site-built homes for adults. From award-winning community development and quality construction to recreation and personal service, the DECCA name remains widely trusted throughout the region.
