Constantly Improving Quality
Using cutting-edge technologies to provide premium municipal water for Palm Beach County's growing population, the Department continuously enhances and upgrades facilities. The implementation of ozone treatment, membrane softening reverse osmosis filtration, and on-site sodium hypochlorite generation keeps Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department at the industry's forefront. Additionally, the Department is among the select few utilities nationwide to receive AAA bond ratings from both Standard and Poor's and Fitch's rating services.

Enhanced Customer Service
To educate consumers about their municipal water quality, the Department publishes an annual water quality report in Adobe PDF format sent directly to customers. This report offers comprehensive information about extensive testing conducted to ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Environmental Improvements
The Wakodahatchee Wetlands span 50 acres of constructed wetlands used to recycle water from the Southern Region Water Reclamation Facility. This innovative component of the Department's water reclamation program not only recycles water but also provides wildlife habitat that has attracted over 150 different bird species plus alligators, rabbits, turtles, otters, foxes, and other creatures typical of a healthy South Florida wetland ecosystem. The public has enthusiastically embraced Wakodahatchee; it has become one of the County's most popular bird-watching and photography destinations. A 3/4-mile long boardwalk allows visitors to enjoy the wetlands and wildlife safely.

The Green Cay Nature Center
Palm Beach County's newest nature center, Green Cay encompasses 100 acres of constructed wetlands used to recycle water from the Southern Region Water Reclamation Facility. The nature center, operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, features an auditorium, gift shop, and live animals in an extensive exhibit area highlighting wetland properties. Outside, Green Cay offers 1.5 miles of elevated boardwalk with interpretive signs about the habitat. A self-guided tour with QR code signs is located along the boardwalk, allowing users to learn about each wetland area. Like Wakodahatchee, this facility provides wildlife habitat that has attracted over 150 different bird species and numerous other animals native to South Florida wetland ecosystems.
