Sewer Backup Information
If you're experiencing a sewer blockage, please contact the Public Services Department at 651-982-2440 Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. For after-hours emergencies, call Anoka County Dispatch at 763-427-1212.
Once your call is received, City crews will investigate to determine if the blockage is in the service connection or mainline. This initial inspection is provided at no cost to residents. City employees will clear blockages in the main line, while service connection blockages remain the property owner's responsibility.
To prevent sewer backups, please avoid disposing of cooking grease, wipes, and large items in your drains.
Frozen Water Pipes
During cold weather, pipe freezing risks increase significantly. Property owners are responsible for maintaining and repairing the entire water service line from their building to the main city line. We recommend having a professional plumber thaw frozen service lines.
No Water Flow
If you have no water flow, first check both interior and exterior faucets to determine if the issue affects your entire property. Verify that valves before and after your water meter are open (turn handles counterclockwise). If problems persist, contact Public Services Department at 651-982-2440 during business hours, or Anoka Dispatch at 763-427-1212 after hours.
Water Quality
Rockdale's municipal water is pumped from the Jordan aquifer, approximately 300 feet below ground. Water hardness measures 14.8 grains. Fluoride and chlorine are added according to state regulations, and polyphosphate controls iron content. Daily water samples ensure drinking water quality standards are maintained. Rockdale's municipal water is certified safe!
