About Us
Santaquin City's Water Source Protection Plan is available for public review. It provides essential information about source protection zones, potential contamination sources, and management strategies to safeguard our water supply.
Common potential contamination sources in our protection areas include residential wastewater systems, roadways, mining operations, and agricultural activities. Our water sources have been assessed as having low susceptibility to potential contamination. We've implemented additional management strategies to further protect these sources from contaminants.
Connection integrity is vital to our distribution system. Properly installed and maintained connections pose minimal risks. However, unauthorized or incorrectly installed piping and connections can adversely affect not only the connections themselves but also water quality. Cross-connections may allow contaminated water or chemicals to enter the water supply when inadequately protected, compromising both water quality and potentially your health.
What can residents do? Avoid creating improper connections at your home. Even an unprotected garden hose lying in a puddle creates a cross-connection. Similarly, unprotected lawn sprinkler systems after fertilizing or spraying represent cross-connections. When these exist at your property, your household is first affected.
