- How do I install a water line from my home to the main supply? First, contact us to verify if service already exists. If not, you'll need to hire a contractor for installation. Note that only KWD personnel or authorized contractors may tap into live water mains. A tapping fee applies based on size.
- Is fluoride added to the municipal water? Yes, according to Maine statute, fluoride is added to water systems where ratepayers vote for it. We add hydrofluorosilicic acid during treatment and test daily to maintain drinking water standards.
- What is the source of our municipal water? Our water comes from the West Basin of China Lake. It travels to our treatment facility for filtration and disinfection, then moves through our transmission line to our main pumping station on Western Avenue where it's distributed to customers.
