About Us
This report covers the quality of groundwater delivered from January 1 to December 31, 2017, by the Highland Hills Sanitary District (HHSD). We're pleased to confirm your tap water meets all USEPA and State health requirements, with no violations during the past year.
This summary details where your water originates from and how contaminant test results compare to regulatory standards. Clean water is essential to our community, so please review this information carefully. For questions, contact the number at the end of this report.
Este informe contiene información muy importante. Tradúzcalo ó hable con un profesional que lo entienda bien.
Your water exceeds all Federal and State standards! We encourage public participation in decisions affecting your water supply. Public Works Committee meetings occur twice monthly. For scheduling information, call 630.407.6800 or visit our website at http://dupage.iqm2.com/Citizens/calendar.aspx
Source Water Information
HHSD previously utilized groundwater from two wells, treated with chlorine, fluoride, and orthophosphate to prevent corrosion and iron oxidation. As of June 2018, this system now connects to Lake Michigan Water Supply through DPC's York Township metered connection. Home water softeners may no longer be necessary—please contact us at (630) 964-7503 for proper disconnection guidance if you choose to discontinue use.
We encourage conservative water usage during extended hot weather periods. Additional water system reports can be downloaded from http://www.co.dupage.il.us/Public_Works/1389/
Source Water Assessment Summary
Based on a 1992 Illinois EPA Well Site Survey, potential contamination sources were identified near Highland Hills Sanitary District's wells. The Illinois EPA's Underground Storage Tank Section also indicated several sites undergoing remediation in the area.
The Illinois EPA has determined that Highland Hills' source water is not susceptible to contamination based on well monitoring, distribution system entry point testing, and available hydrogeological data. Additionally, the Community Water Supply is not vulnerable to viral contamination according to the EPA's Ground Water Rule Vulnerability Waiver Process assessment, which considered proper well construction, hydrogeological barriers, mitigation of potential pathways, absence of illness outbreaks in historical data, and sanitary survey results.
Since the wells are in a confined aquifer that should prevent pathogen movement, well hydraulics were not considered a significant factor in this vulnerability determination.
