MONITORING AND COMPLIANCE VIOLATION DATA: Total Coliform Bacteria assessment was recently required. Coliforms are naturally occurring bacteria used as indicators that potentially harmful waterborne pathogens may be present or that contamination pathways exist in the water distribution system.

When coliforms are detected, we must investigate potential water treatment or distribution issues. We conducted 1 Level 1 Assessment and 1 Level 2 assessment for our system. To address concerns, we've implemented increased flushing protocols and additional water sampling in affected areas. No further issues have been detected since the violation, and we continue active system monitoring.

Level 1 Assessment involves examining the water system to identify potential problems when total coliform bacteria are found. Level 2 Assessment is a more comprehensive investigation conducted when an E. coli MCL violation occurs or when total coliform bacteria appear repeatedly in the water system.

Why is my water discolored?
Recent repairs may have allowed air to enter the line, causing a milky appearance. This typically clears after running water for a few minutes.

What chemicals are added to our municipal water?
Only chemicals approved by the National Safety Foundation specifically for treating municipal water are used in our system.

My water tastes, smells, or looks unusual. Is it safe?
All public water systems must maintain minimum disinfectant levels by state law - 0.2 mg/L chlorine or 0.5 mg/L chloramine. We test these levels daily to ensure safety.

Why does sediment appear when running hot water?
Your water heater likely needs flushing. CAUTION: Manufacturers typically recommend hiring a professional for water heater maintenance to prevent injury or damage.

Payment and Service Questions:

• Previous balance showing despite payment? We may have received it after the due date or not received it at all. Contact our office for assistance.
• Can I reserve a meter by phone? Yes, though due to required documentation, visiting in person is preferred.
• Can I discontinue service remotely? Yes, forms are available on our website. Email or fax the completed form with a copy of your ID for verification.
• Can I set up new service by phone? No, property owners must visit in person to indicate location on our maps due to cost and liability considerations.
• Can I use my bank's online bill payment? Yes, but be aware of potential delays. When you initiate payment, your bank sends a physical check which takes 5-10 days to reach us. Consider our free draft service to avoid late fees.

Can I place my water meter on someone else's property?
No. TCEQ Rules (30 TAC 291) 86(a)(3) require meters to be located on the customer's property in an accessible location mutually agreed upon by both customer and utility.
