About Us
We're pleased to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report to our community. This document provides important information about the quality of water we deliver to your homes and businesses daily.
Our primary goal is to provide you with safe, reliable municipal water. Our water supply comes from Byrd's Mill Spring, which delivers groundwater to our nine-million-gallon-per-day treatment facility. The Ada Water Treatment Plant not only supplies potable water to the city but also to seven additional water systems in the region.
If you have questions about this report or our water utility services, please contact Marty York, Utility Plants Superintendent at (580) 436-8100. Our address is 231 South Townsend, Ada, OK 74820.
We value community engagement and invite you to attend our regularly scheduled City Council meetings held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 5:45 p.m. at City Hall.
We continuously monitor water quality in accordance with federal and state regulations. The data in this report reflects testing conducted from January 1 to December 31, 2017. Some information may be older as regulations permit certain contaminants to be monitored less frequently.
Key Definitions:
- Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL): Highest allowable level of a contaminant in drinking water
- Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG): Contaminant level below which there is no known health risk
- Treatment Technique (TT): Required process to reduce contaminant levels
- Action Level (AL): Contaminant concentration that triggers additional treatment requirements
- Parts per million (ppm) or Milligrams per liter (mg/l): One part contaminant per million parts water
- Parts per billion (ppb) or Micrograms per liter (ug/l): One part contaminant per billion parts water
- Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU): Measure of water clarity
- Picocuries per liter (pCi/L): Measure of radioactivity in water
- Non-Detects (ND): Indicates the contaminant was not detected during testing
All drinking water sources, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. These substances can be naturally occurring or man-made. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
