Arab Water Works is proud to share this water quality report with our community. The report covers January 1 through December 31, 2017, during which time our water quality exceeded the strict regulations set by Alabama Department of Environmental Management and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In 2017, our treatment plant distributed 1,547,004,000 gallons of water to customers. We source our water from both surface water (Brown's Creek Embayment on Lake Guntersville, located one mile west of Guntersville on Highway 69) and groundwater (located at 66 Waterworks Road in Warrenton).

Beyond standard coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration processes, Arab Water Works pre-treats water using an advanced Magnetic Ion Exchange (MIEX) process. These comprehensive treatment methods effectively remove or reduce potentially harmful contaminants from source water.

ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management) has mandated all water systems complete a SWAP (source water assessment plan), which includes delineation of the source water assessment area, contaminant inventory, susceptibility analysis, and community awareness. Arab Water Works has fulfilled all SWAP requirements, with ADEM approval. This plan provides protocols for emergency management and ongoing source water protection. The complete SWAP is available for review at the AWW office.

To maintain our safe and dependable water supply, infrastructure improvements may occasionally be necessary. The costs of these upgrades may be reflected in our rate structure, with price adjustments implemented as needed to support these essential improvements.
