We are pleased to present this year's water quality report. Our primary goal is to provide you with a reliable and safe supply of municipal water. If you have questions about this Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) or would like to participate in public opportunities that may impact water quality, please contact STEVE WITTER at 303-790-4830.

General Information
All municipal water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (1-800-426-4791) or visit http://water.epa.gov/drink/contaminants.

Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population. People with compromised immune systems—such as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, individuals with HIV/AIDS, elderly persons, and infants—should seek advice from healthcare providers regarding their water consumption.

Water Sources and Potential Contaminants
Municipal water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels across land or underground, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal or human activity.

Potential contaminants may include:

  • Microbial contaminants: viruses and bacteria from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
  • Inorganic contaminants: salts and metals that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, industrial discharge, oil and gas production, mining, or farming
  • Pesticides and herbicides: from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential uses
  • Radioactive contaminants: naturally occurring or from oil/gas production and mining
  • Organic chemicals: synthetic and volatile compounds from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban runoff, and septic systems

Arapahoe County's Water Sources
Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority (ACWWA) provides water from multiple sources:

  • Shallow aquifer groundwater – renewable source from Cherry Creek Alluvial Aquifer
  • Deep aquifer groundwater – non-renewable source primarily from Denver and Arapahoe Formations
  • Joint Water Purification Plant (JWPP) – collaborative effort with Cottonwood Water and Sanitation District
  • ACWWA Flow Project – partnership with East Cherry Creek Valley Water and Sanitation District and United Water and Sanitation District

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has conducted a Source Water Assessment. For more information or to obtain a copy of the report, visit http://wqcdcompliance.com/ccr or contact STEVE WITTER at 303-790-4830.

Arapahoe Cnty Wwwa Municipal Water Report Info

Welcome to Arapahoe County, Colorado's first county with a rich and colorful history. Spanning 850 square miles, Arapahoe County presents a study in contrasts—the western portion is predominantly urban with residential, commercial, and industrial areas, while the eastern section remains largely rural.

With a total population of 631,096 (including 83,764 in unincorporated areas), Arapahoe County is the third largest in the state. The county was named after the Arapaho Native Americans who, together with the Cheyenne, occupied much of Colorado during its territorial days.
