About Us
We're pleased to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires all community water systems to provide customers with an Annual Consumer Confidence Report detailing the quality of water delivered through their system.
Our constant goal is to provide you with safe, reliable municipal water. All water, including bottled water, naturally contains small amounts of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
Health Information: Some individuals may be more vulnerable to contaminants than the general population, including:
- People undergoing chemotherapy
- Organ transplant recipients
- Individuals with HIV/AIDS
- Those with immune system disorders
- Elderly residents
- Infants
These individuals should seek advice about water consumption from healthcare providers. For guidelines on reducing infection risks from cryptosporidium and microbiological contaminants, contact the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791 or visit http://water.epa.gov/drink/contaminants.
Water Sources and Potential Contaminants: Municipal water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals and can pick up substances from animal or human activity.
Contaminants that may be present in source water include:
- Microbial contaminants from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, livestock, and wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals (natural or from urban runoff, industrial discharges, or farming)
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential use
- Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, and septic systems
- Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining
Our Water Supply: The District relies on two sources: seven alluvial (shallow) wells along Cherry Creek and eighteen wells in the deeper Denver Basin Aquifers, six of which are dedicated irrigation wells. These wells supply a network of pump stations that deliver water to underground storage reservoirs serving homes, parks, schools, and other users within our district. In 2017, we delivered 998 million gallons of water.
Water Conservation: Less than 1% of Earth's water is usable by humans. The rest is salt water or permanently frozen. As population grows, more people depend on this limited resource, making conservation essential.
Car Washing Tips: Some car washes clean and recycle water, preventing road dirt and soaps from contaminating local waterways. Whether using a car wash or washing at home, following simple guidelines helps conserve water and protect the environment.
Water-Saving Technology: As temperatures rise, you may use more water for irrigation. Consider new technologies that can help conserve water and reduce your bill.
