About Us
We're proud to present our 2017 Maple Grove Water Quality Report. Throughout the years, we've committed ourselves to delivering municipal water that meets all national and federal standards. We continuously strive to implement new and improved methods for providing the highest quality tap water possible.
As new challenges to water safety emerge, we remain vigilant in addressing water source protection, conservation initiatives, and community education while meeting the needs of all our customers. The City of Maple Grove supplies municipal water from groundwater sources, primarily through 10 wells ranging from 157 to 295 feet deep, developed in the surficial Glacial Drift aquifer.
For emergency supply, the City maintains 2 additional wells in the Mt. Simon-Hinckley bedrock aquifer. Our total pumping capacity reaches 34,000 gallons per minute. Raw water is processed at our treatment facility to reduce iron content from 0.02 parts per million to 0.001 parts per million and manganese from 0.6 parts per million to 0.03 parts per million. While these elements pose no health risks, they can cause discoloration and staining.
The Minnesota Department of Health identifies our Drift aquifer wells as susceptible to contamination. The Maple Grove Wellhead Protection Plan identifies the aquifer recharge control area, potential contamination sources, and management practices to protect our water supply.
Our Utility Division staff is committed to responding promptly and professionally to community needs. Water and Sewer Department vehicles are blue in color, and utility personnel carry Maple Grove photo identification cards.
