Crestview Water and Sanitation District was established in 1949 as Baker Metropolitan Water and Sanitation District to provide reliable water and sanitary sewer services to district residents. The district expanded over time, incorporating the Perl Mack Neighborhood Group area in the late 1950s.
In 1972, the organization was renamed Crestview Water and Sanitation District to better reflect its service territory, which now encompasses approximately four square miles. As development progressed, water and sewer infrastructure expanded to meet residential needs and fire protection requirements.
Initially, water was supplied from two deep wells - one at 72nd Avenue east of Pecos Street and another at Clark Court and Kidder Drive. During peak demand periods, well water was supplemented by the District's water treatment plant. Wastewater treatment occurred at the District's facility at 64th Avenue and Pecos Street.
Major infrastructure changes occurred in 1978 when the sewer treatment plant closed, making Crestview a member of the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District with treatment handled at the central plant. In 1988, the wells and water treatment plant were decommissioned, and Crestview began receiving all treated water from the Denver Water system.
Since 1992, Crestview has maintained a dedicated reserve and replacement fund to address aging infrastructure in a timely manner. The District follows a long-term funding plan, updated annually, for replacement work. Each year, the most severely deteriorated areas are identified and water/wastewater system replacement projects are designed, bid out, and awarded to contractors for construction.
