Centerville provides a comprehensive Drinking Water Source Safety Plan that identifies potential contamination sources and protection areas. Many of our water sources are situated in remote, protected locations with minimal contamination risk. However, other sources are near residential areas.
We encourage all residents to be mindful about what enters your yard or street drains, including oils, antifreeze, fertilizers, and pesticides. The Water Source Protection Strategy is available for review at the Public Works Building at 655 North 1250 West.
Proper connections in our water distribution system are crucial for maintaining both supply reliability and water quality. Unapproved or improper piping connections can adversely affect water quality and potentially impact your health. Even an unattended garden hose lying in a puddle creates a cross-connection, as does an unprotected lawn sprinkler system after fertilizer application if connected to the culinary water system.
