About Us
This report provides essential information about your municipal water and the efforts by the water system to deliver safe water to Camden residents. Este informe contiene información muy importante sobre su agua potable. Tradúzcalo ó hable con alguien que lo entienda bien.
The City of Camden serves approximately 15,000 customers, delivering an average of two million gallons of water daily (MGD). We source our water from Lake Wateree, which is pumped to our treatment facility with a capacity of 6 MGD. To ensure compliance with health standards, we utilize sampling and testing methods approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC).
Our treatment process removes solid materials and suspended particles before disinfection and fluoridation. Certified water plant personnel collect samples daily, with results reported monthly to SCDHEC. The findings from January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2017, are documented in this report's table.
All water sources, including bottled water, may reasonably contain small amounts of contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
The EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems, while FDA regulations set similar standards for bottled water to ensure public health protection. Certain populations may be more vulnerable to water contaminants, including those undergoing chemotherapy, people with HIV/AIDS or immune disorders, some elderly individuals, and infants. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers regarding drinking water safety.

The EPA sets and enforces standards for tap water quality through the Safe Drinking Water Act. These regulations establish limits for contaminants to protect public health. Camden's water system regularly tests for these regulated substances and reports findings to both residents and regulatory agencies.
Water quality reports must be provided annually to customers, detailing detected contaminants and their levels compared to federal standards. The EPA also maintains resources to help consumers understand their local water quality and take appropriate actions if concerns arise.
