Our Municipal Water Meets or Exceeds All Federal Standards
Providing safe, reliable water is our highest priority. We're proud to deliver water that meets or surpasses all national and federal requirements. This report summarizes the quality of water we provide to our customers, based on the most recent EPA-mandated testing.
Special Notice for Vulnerable Populations:
Some individuals may be more susceptible to certain contaminants in tap water, including Cryptosporidium. This includes elderly persons, infants, cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, those on steroid treatments, and people with HIV/AIDS or other immune disorders. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers about water consumption. Guidelines for reducing Cryptosporidium infection risk are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline: 800.426.4791.
Understanding Water Contaminants:
All municipal water, including bottled water, may contain small amounts of certain contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. When water meets federal standards, there may be no health-based benefits to purchasing bottled water or filtration systems. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, call EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline or visit their website.
Awards and Recognition:
The City of Grapevine received the EPA Award for Excellence in 1992, 1995, and 1998 for best maintained and operated water system in Region VI (Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma) among similarly-sized systems. Our water was awarded "best tasting water in North Central Texas" in 1991, 1998, 2001 and 2004 by the North Texas Laboratory Association, and "best tasting water in Texas" in 2002. The Trinity River Authority received similar awards in 1994, 2013, and 2014.
Water Source Information:
Grapevine's municipal water comes from surface water from Lake Grapevine and purchased water from the Trinity River Authority (TRA). TRA water is pumped from Cedar Creek Reservoir and Richland-Chambers Reservoir into Lake Arlington. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is currently updating a Source Water Susceptibility Assessment for our water sources.
