Mustang SUD Municipal Water Company and EPAMustang SUD Municipal Water Report Information
Mountain Peak Special Utility District operates as a subdivision of Texas State established under Chapters 65 and 49 of the Texas Water Code. We're regulated by both the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and The Texas Public Utilities Commission (TPUC) as a "Predominant System."
Our primary mission is providing safe, quality water to customers within our district boundaries as approved by TCEQ. Public health remains the foremost priority for our staff and Board of Directors. Your water undergoes monthly bacterial testing and daily disinfection monitoring.
Water treatment includes 100% gaseous chlorine in quantities sufficient to eliminate bacteria while minimizing taste or odor issues. Our water originates from artesian wells in the Trinity group of springs, supplemented with pre-determined amounts of surface water from Joe Pool Lake during summer peak demand periods, purchased through Midlothian.
The district is governed by a federally elected 7-member Board of Directors serving multi-year terms as community volunteers. Originally established as a Corporation in 1969, we converted to a Special Utility District in 2003 and now serve over 4,500 customers. All operations are directed by our General Manager, Randel Kirk, who reports to the Board. Our office staff is ready to assist with questions, while field personnel respond promptly to service-related issues.
