How can I make a payment on my Utility Billing Account?
The Treasurer's office accepts cash, check, and credit/debit card payments. Check payments can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall. Cash and card payments must be made in person with valid photo ID (fees apply for card payments). After-hours payments can be placed in the drop-box outside the Treasurer's office. Online payments via Credit/Debit Card or E-Check are also available through the Utility Bill Online Payment system.
When is my Utility Bill payment due?
Water and sewer bills are due on the 15th of each month. If the 15th falls on a holiday or weekend, the due date extends to the next business day. A 6% compounding penalty applies to late payments. Note that failure to receive a bill does not waive any late penalties.
Why is there a Penalty charge on my bill?
According to City Ordinance No. 634, Section 74-143, "If any bill is not paid when due, then a compounding penalty of six percent will be added thereto."
I sent my payment electronically through my banking service. Why is it late?
The City receives e-lockbox payments each business day, but not all banks send them electronically. Some banking services write physical checks and mail them conventionally, which can take longer than if you mailed a check yourself. Allow ample time for processing if using this payment method.
Where is my water meter located?
Your water meter is typically found in the basement, crawl space, or utility room of your residence.
What is that plastic box on the outside of my house?
The plastic box is a remote reading device wired to your interior meter. This allows DPW to accurately collect monthly readings without needing to enter your home.
