The Town of Oak Island is proud to present this year's Annual Water Quality Report. This document aims to inform residents about the quality of water and services delivered daily to your homes and businesses. Our primary mission is providing safe, reliable water while continuously improving distribution systems and protecting our valuable water resources.

We believe informed customers are our greatest allies in maintaining water quality. Water Treatment Information:
Our primary water source is a purchased water system from Brunswick County, which draws from treated groundwater in the Castle Hayne Aquifer via 14 wells approximately 175 feet deep. The treatment facility is located on NC Highway 211 adjacent to BEMC. Our backup source is surface water from the Cape Fear River above lock and dam #1 at Kings Bluff Pumping Station. Additionally, we maintain two emergency backup wells that draw from the Pee Dee Aquifer.

Treatment processes include:

• Chloramines for disinfection against bacteria, protozoa and viruses
• Lime addition for water softening
• Polyphosphate for corrosion control
• Fluoride to help prevent tooth decay

We regularly monitor for over 80 contaminants in accordance with Federal and State regulations. The data in this report represents testing conducted January 1 through December 31, 2017. The EPA requires monitoring of certain contaminants less than once yearly since their concentrations typically remain stable. Some data, while representative of current water quality, may be more than one year old.

1. Payment By Mail
   When submitting payment via check or money order through mail, always include your payment coupon. To avoid late fees, please mail your payment at least 5-7 business days before the due date indicated on your statement.
2. Automatic Bank Draft
   The hassle-free payment option for your water bill. This service automatically deducts your monthly bill amount from your bank account and applies it to your utility account. No setup fee or charge is associated with this payment method. To establish Automatic Bank Draft, download and complete the ACH Recurring Debit Form (when available) in the Forms & Reports Section and submit it to our office with a voided check.
3. Payment Drop-off Location
   You may pay your bill in person at our office address. We accept cash, checks, or money orders. For shorter wait times, please note that Mondays, Fridays, and the first day after holidays typically experience higher customer volume.
4. Payment Through Financial Institution Online Bill Pay
   Many financial institutions and major banks offer customers the ability to pay bills via online bill payment services (through your bank's website). These services typically debit the customer's checking or savings account. Depending on your bank, fees may apply. Payments can take up to seven business days to post to your account. Contact your bank for details.
5. Payment by Credit and Debit Card
   We accept major credit and debit cards for convenient online and in-person payments.
