About Us
Connecticut Water is proud to present a summary of the quality water we've provided to you over the past year. This report was prepared according to National Safe Municipal Water Act requirements to annually inform you about where your water comes from, what it contains, and how our testing and treatment protocols protect you.
Federal regulations now allow water providers to publish these annual reports online to reduce costs and environmental impact. Connecticut Water notifies all customers via bill inserts, press releases, our website, and social media that water quality reports for all systems are available online or by request.
If you have questions about this report, please contact our customer service team at 1-800-286-5700 or email us at customerservice@ctwater.com.
Water Supply Information: The Unionville Main System serves Connecticut Water Company customers in Farmington, Unionville, and southern Avon. Water for this system comes from groundwater wells and surface reservoir water purchased from the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC).
Water sources include reservoirs, ponds, wells, and springs. As water travels over land or underground, it can dissolve natural minerals and, in some cases, radioactive materials. It can also pick up substances from animal presence or human activity, including:
- Viruses and bacteria from septic systems, livestock, or wildlife
- Salts and metals (naturally occurring or from stormwater runoff and agriculture)
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban stormwater runoff, or residential uses
- Organic chemicals from industrial processes, gas stations, stormwater, and septic systems
- Radioactive substances that occur naturally
To ensure safe tap water, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) establishes limits on these substances in water provided by public systems.
