Easton Provincial Water Authority (Public Water Supply Number 3480050) is committed to delivering high-quality water that meets or exceeds all federal and state quality standards. To ensure premium quality delivery, we've invested substantially in treatment facilities, quality monitoring systems, and distribution infrastructure. We're pleased to present this Water Quality Report showing our 2017 testing results. Along with laboratory data, this report contains information about your water source and how it compares to EPA and state standards.

For questions or concerns, please contact Roy White at 610-258-7181 or visit us online at www.eswater.net.

Water Source Information: Easton Suburban Water Authority draws water from the Delaware River. Our treatment and filtration plant can produce 16 million gallons daily (MGD). Major improvements costing $25 million were completed in 2011 to meet new Surface Water Treatment Regulations.

Under the EPA's 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act Section 1453, states must evaluate flowing water sources for public systems. Through Pennsylvania's Resource Water Assessment and Protection Program (SWAP), a source water assessment was completed for Easton's treatment plant. Potential contamination sources include both point and non-point pollution sources. The Delaware River Basin Commission, USGS, and EPA provide valuable information on water flow, quality, and planning for the Delaware River watershed.

Educational Information: Drinking water sources (both tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves natural minerals, sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activities.

Potential contaminants in source water include:

  • Microbial contaminants like viruses and bacteria from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
  • Inorganic contaminants including salts and metals, occurring naturally or from urban runoff, industrial/domestic wastewater, oil/gas production, mining, or farming
  • Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential usage
  • Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organics from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, urban runoff, and septic systems
  • Radioactive contaminants that occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining

To ensure tap water safety, EPA establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. We treat your water according to these standards. FDA regulations set similar limits for bottled water to provide equal public health protection. All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably contain at least small amounts of some contaminants, which doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk.
