About Us
This report highlights our municipal water quality and its implications for residents. If you have questions regarding this report or your municipal water service, please contact the Authority at (717) 898-8231. We value keeping you informed about your water supply.
For those interested in learning more, we welcome you to our regularly scheduled meetings held on the second Friday of each month at 8:00 AM at 920 Church Road, Landisville, PA 17538.
Our water is sourced from 9 wells and 1 spring located along Cathedral Street, Stony Battery Road, and Nissley Road. We treat our water with fluoride and chlorine for safety. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) completed Source Water Assessments of our supplies. Assessment summaries are available on the PADEP website at www.dep.state.pa.us (search "DEP source water"). Complete reports can be reviewed at the PADEP Southcentral Regional Office or our Water Authority Office.
Certain populations may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than others. Immunocompromised individuals—including those undergoing cancer treatment, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, certain elderly individuals, and infants—may face increased health risks. These individuals should consult healthcare providers about their municipal water consumption. CDC/EPA guidelines for reducing infection risks from Cryptosporidium and other microbial contaminants are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
We continuously monitor contaminants in your municipal water as required by federal and state regulations. Potential contamination sources in our system include agricultural, residential, and industrial activities. The tables in our full report show monitoring results from January 1 to December 31, 2017. Some contaminants are monitored less frequently as their concentrations remain relatively stable. Data from previous years complies with Safe Drinking Water Act requirements.

About East Hempfield Water Authority: Established in 1941, the Authority's water distribution was delayed until 1947 due to World War II material shortages when cast iron and steel were unavailable. The system initially consisted of 6 miles of pipeline, one pumping station, and a 100,000-gallon storage tank—all still operational today.
The Authority was created to deliver high-quality water economically to the Landisville and Salunga areas. Currently, our infrastructure includes 92 miles of pipeline, six pumping stations, and six storage tanks throughout our service area. We remain committed to improving and maintaining our system while providing quality water at affordable rates.
