  1. How can I access the program schedule?

Send details to the Program Manager including date, time, location and admission fee. You can also submit requests through our online form. Please allow one week for updates.

Water Quality Questions:

  • What is my water hardness level?
SOCWA water consistently measures at 100 ppm or 6 grains of hardness.
  • How much sodium does my water contain?
SOCWA water contains approximately 4 mg/L of sodium year-round.
  • Is my tap water safe to drink?
SOCWA tests 56 sites weekly throughout the service area to monitor water quality. Your water meets all safety standards.
  • Why does my tap water appear cloudy?
This is caused by tiny air bubbles, similar to carbonation in soft drinks. The cloudiness will clear from bottom to top as bubbles rise and dissipate. This occurs more frequently during winter months when water is colder.
  • Is chlorinated water safe to consume?
Yes. Extensive testing confirms that chlorine levels in treated municipal water are safe, though some individuals may notice the taste.
  • Should I purchase bottled water?
U.S. bottled water faces less regulation than municipal water. If your tap water meets federal and state standards (as Bloomfield Township's does), bottled water isn't necessary for health reasons. Though it may offer different taste, bottled water can cost up to 1,000 times more than municipal water.
