The Municipal Water Source Safety Plan for Heber City is available for public review. This document contains vital information about resource protection zones, potential contamination sources, and management strategies implemented to safeguard our water supply.

The Heber Valley has become one of America's fastest growing regions in 2016. As previously undeveloped agricultural areas connect to public sewer systems, the risk of water source contamination has significantly decreased. Heber City's commercial and industrial zones have been strategically positioned away from water production and storage facilities, ensuring our State-mandated Wellhead Protection Program effectively minimizes threats to our community's water quality.

We've developed comprehensive management strategies to further protect our sources from contamination. For questions about our resource protection plan, please contact Heber City's Architectural Department at (435) 654-0757, located at 75 North Main Street in Heber City Hall.

CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL
While properly installed and maintained connections to our distribution system pose minimal risk, unapproved or improper plumbing connections can adversely affect both water supply and quality. A cross connection may allow pollutants or chemicals to enter the water system if not properly protected, compromising water quality and potentially affecting your health.

How can you help? Never create or allow improper connections at your home. This includes unprotected hoses lying in puddles or unprotected yard sprinkler systems after fertilizing. When cross connections exist in your home, they affect your family first.

Heber City's ongoing water service replacement and meter vault upgrade program, funded by monthly water usage fees, has dramatically reduced potential cross connection contamination through the installation of Utah State certified backflow prevention devices.

WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
All Utah community water facilities undergo inspection every three years by State certified inspectors according to established health and welfare standards, commonly known as a Sanitary Survey. These criteria ensure Heber City Public Works properly safeguards the community's water system from unauthorized access or contamination.

Last year, our water distribution system management focused on improving water quality and conservation by replacing failing and undersized water mains in Old Heber, primarily along Main Street, before implementing major highway and street improvement projects. We've also reconfigured water distribution routes from storage facilities and installed additional transmission mains, improving system hydraulics and flow characteristics to high-elevation properties like the Valley Hills Subdivision.

These properties previously relied on inline pressure boosting pumps which, while optimizing residential water pressure, risked compromising system integrity. These improvements, once completed, should successfully increase water system pressures to reduce the possibility of unregulated backflow and undetected secondary water cross connections.

We're pleased to report that our municipal water continues to meet all federal and state requirements.
