Lead Information: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health problems, especially for pregnant women and young children. Lead in drinking water primarily comes from materials in service lines and home plumbing components. While we provide high-quality water, we cannot control the materials used in plumbing fixtures. If your water has been sitting for several hours, minimize lead exposure by flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking.

1. When is my bill due and how can I pay it? Bills are due upon receipt and considered late after the due date shown on your statement. A 10% late fee applies after the due date, and service may be disconnected 30 days after bills are mailed. Payment options include: at our office (601 S. 2nd St., south of downtown Forrest City), automatic bank draft, phone payment, online payment, or mail. We offer drive-through service and a night deposit box. VISA, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted.
2. Can I request a payment extension? If you cannot pay your bill in full, Forrest City Water Utilities may offer an extension. Contact our office to request this arrangement. If approved, you must make payment by the extended date to avoid disconnection. Please call customer service promptly upon receiving a shut-off notice to discuss potential payment arrangements.
3. What should I do about billing questions? Call our Main Office at (870) 633-2921. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm.
4. How do I prevent sewer blockages? To avoid sewer stoppages, never flush these items: grease, contraceptives, feminine hygiene products, clothing (socks, underwear), toys, jewelry, diapers, baby/toilet wipes, or cleaning rags like Swiffer products. These items can block pipes or damage lift station pumps.
5. What should I do if I have a sewer blockage? Call the sewer department at 633-1571 before contacting any other service providers. Our team will determine if the issue is in your private system or the main sewer line.
6. Can I receive credit for filling my swimming pool? Once yearly, we offer sewer charge credits for water used to fill swimming pools. Contact our office at 633-2921 to request this credit.
7. What steps should I take if I suspect a leak? Any leaks between the meter and your home are your responsibility, and you may need a plumber's assistance. After repairs, contact us about possible sewer bill credit.

12. Is there a fee to transfer service? Yes, $10.00 within city limits and $15.00 outside city limits, billed on your first statement at the new location.
13. Where does our water come from? It's pumped from the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer, a natural underground water source of gravels and sands covering approximately 32,000 square miles across six states. In Arkansas, this aquifer extends 50-125 miles wide by 250 miles long adjacent to the Mississippi River. This water primarily supports agricultural irrigation and fish farming.
