The North Wales Water Authority takes immense pride in delivering high-quality water to our customers. We're pleased to report that 2017 marked our twenty-second consecutive year exceeding state and federal Safe Drinking Water Act requirements. We want you to be well-informed about your tap water.

This report explains where your water comes from, how it's monitored, and details which regulated substances were detected in the water supply over the past year. For a complete list of all monitored chemicals, visit our website at nwwater.com/go/quality.

To learn about the water treatment process at Forest Park Water (FPW) facility, we invite you to visit nwwater.com/go/videos. You can follow your water's journey from the Delaware River to FPW and explore our sophisticated treatment processes from the comfort of your home.

Our staff is available to speak with community groups. Request a visit by calling 215-699-4836 or completing a form on our website. To learn more about NWWA, attend our Board of Directors meetings held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 5:00 p.m. at our office at 200 W. Walnut St. in North Wales.

WATER SOURCES

In 2017, approximately 97% of water delivered to our customers was treated surface water from the Forest Park Water Treatment Plant. This water comes from the North Branch Neshaminy Creek, which begins as a small stream near Route 413 in Central Bucks County. The creek flows into Lake Galena, the reservoir for Forest Park. Water released from Lake Galena flows down the North Branch to the Forest Park Water Treatment Plant in Chalfont, Pennsylvania.

Seasonally, water is pumped from the Delaware River at Point Pleasant and diverted into the North Branch near Gardenville, Pennsylvania. This diversion manages Lake Galena's levels for recreation and storm water retention, ensures sufficient water supply, and maintains baseflow in the stream.

The remaining 3% of water comes from 13 groundwater wells throughout our service area. Water from these wells is chlorinated before distribution to customers' homes.

Source Water Assessments of both the North Branch Neshaminy Creek Intake and our groundwater sources were completed in June 2011 by Spotts, Steven & McCoy, Inc. for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. These assessments identify potential contamination sources and help us implement safeguards to protect our water supply.
