About Us
Our water comes from purchased surface water through a Consecutive Connection (CC) with another water program. For detailed information about our water sources and chemical testing results, please contact our office at the number listed below.
Customer Connection: RAYMORE PWS receives water from KANSAS CITY PWS. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has conducted source water assessments to evaluate potential contamination risks. This process involved mapping source water areas for each well or surface intake, then creating an inventory of possible contaminants within these zones.
Assessment maps and information sheets are available online at http://drinkingwater.missouri.edu/swipe/swipmaps/pwssid.htm. To access maps for your water system, you'll need the state-assigned ID code found at the top of this report. These resources provide a foundation for developing comprehensive source water protection strategies.
Why are there contaminants in my water? All municipal water, including bottled water, can reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800-426-4791).
Source water may contain various contaminants including:
- Microbial contaminants like viruses and bacteria from sewage treatment facilities, septic systems, agricultural operations, and wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants such as salts and metals that occur naturally or result from urban runoff, industrial wastewater, oil/gas production, or farming
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture, urban runoff, and residential use
- Organic chemical contaminants including synthetic and volatile compounds from industrial processes, petroleum production, gas stations, and septic systems
- Radioactive contaminants that may occur naturally or result from oil/gas production and mining
To ensure tap water safety, the Department of Natural Resources establishes regulations limiting contaminant levels in public water systems. The Department of Health sets similar limits for bottled water to provide equivalent public health protection.
Regulatory compliance: The Missouri Department of Natural Resources regulates our water system under identification number MO1010675, requiring regular testing to ensure safety. Last year, we tested for numerous contaminants, with results shown in this report. Any violations of state requirements would be detailed here.
RAYMORE PWS can provide a printed copy of this report upon request. To request a mailed copy, please call 816-331-2377. The CCR can also be found online at www.dnr.mo.gov/cancer/MO1010675.pdf.
State monitoring requirements may be reduced for certain contaminants when concentrations aren't expected to vary significantly year to year. Records older than one year are still considered representative, though no data older than 5 years is included. For multiple samples during a monitoring period, the Range of Tested Results shows the lowest and highest values. All test results must remain below maximum contaminant levels (MCL) to avoid violations.
