What is the source of my water? The sources of municipal water (both tap water and bottled water) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and groundwater wells. As water travels across land surfaces or through soil layers, it dissolves naturally occurring minerals and, in some instances, radioactive materials, and can absorb substances from animal or human activities.

Republic utilizes deep groundwater wells to extract water from the Ozark Aquifer. The Ozark Aquifer represents the most substantial and extensive water source in the Ozark Plateau aquifer system. Missouri has reduced certain contaminant monitoring requirements to less than annual testing because concentrations of these substances typically remain stable year-to-year. Test results older than one year are still considered representative of current conditions.

You can access sample results for all contaminants from both historical and current compliance monitoring online through the Missouri DNR Drinking Water Watch website at https://www.Dnr.Mo.Gov/DWW/indexSearchDNR.Jsp. To locate Lead and Copper results for your system, enter your water system name in the search field and select Find Water Systems. From the new screen showing your water system information, click on the Water System Number. Under the Help column, select Other Chemical Results by Analyte, then scroll to Lead and click the blue Analyte Code (1030). Lead and Copper testing locations will appear under Sample Comments.

If your home was selected for Lead and Copper sampling but you cannot locate your results, please contact The City of Republic for assistance. For questions about this report or concerns about your water system, contact Jason Davis at 732-3440, or write to 2017 Water Report, City of Republic, 204 N. Main, Republic, MO 65738. Additional report copies are available at City Hall, Republic Library (925 N Lindsey Ave), or online at www.Republicmo.Com/DocumentCenter/View/1048. To become involved with the municipal water system, contact Public Works or attend City Council meetings held on the second and fourth Mondays monthly at 213 N. Main, starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Republic Municipal Utility is a branch of the City of Republic. It was established by ordinance and is overseen by five commissioners appointed by the Mayor and city council. Four commissioners are Republic residents and one is a City Council member. Commissioners meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 5:30 PM.

Common Questions About Municipal Water Service:

  1. Do I need to pay a deposit for rental properties? Yes, renters must pay either a $75.00 residential deposit plus $25.00 transfer fee or a commercial deposit. Commercial deposits are calculated based on a two-month average of water and sewer charges for your business type, with a $100.00 minimum plus the $25.00 transfer fee.
  2. What about newly purchased residential properties? Homeowners aren't charged a deposit, only the $25.00 transfer fee.
  3. I purchased rental property - what's required? When purchasing rental property, you must visit our office with personal ID or a tax ID number. A $25.00 transfer fee applies the first time service is established in your name at a particular address.
  4. What documents do I need to establish service? Renters need the required deposit. All customers must provide photo ID. Homeowners must show proof of purchase such as a deed copy or purchase agreement. A complete service address is essential for activation.
  5. How do I disconnect service when moving? Unlike establishing service, disconnection can be requested by phone. You'll need to verify the ID numbers provided when service was established, or visit our office with photo ID. A valid forwarding address is required for your final bill and/or deposit refund.
  6. Why might my bill be higher than my neighbor's? Bills are based on actual water usage, which varies by household habits. For example, two people who run a dishwasher daily, do multiple loads of laundry, and take multiple showers will use more water than two people with minimal water-using appliances or different bathing habits. Average monthly usage is 2,000-4,000 gallons per person - usage differences account for billing variations.
  7. When can I expect my refund? Standard processing time is 4-6 weeks. For example, if service was disconnected on the 25th, billing occurs around the 21st of the following month, with checks issued around the 1st of the month after that. A valid forwarding address is crucial for timely delivery.
  8. How do I transfer service to a new location? Visit our office to request a transfer. Any outstanding balances must be paid, along with the $25.00 transfer fee.
