Sahuarita Water Company
About Us
Sahuarita Water is a private water organization that has been providing water services to Rancho Sahuarita and Rancho Resort residents since 2000. Their service currently extends to over 15,000 residents across approximately 5,000 homes. SWC also supplies water to the Marketplace, Sahuarita Unified School District, and the Town of Sahuarita Municipal Complex.
SWC relies on 100% groundwater from three deep wells in the Rancho Sahuarita area. This water is drawn from the Tucson Basin aquifer, part of the Santa Cruz River Watershed. In this region, water is extracted from the aquifer by private wells, municipal systems, agricultural operations, and industrial users.
Source Water Assessments are on file with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and available for public review. Interested parties can obtain copies by contacting the ADEQ Source Water Coordinator at (602) 771-4641. These assessments provide screening-level evaluations of potential contamination risks, though they don't indicate that contamination has occurred or will occur.
The Annual Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) aims to provide accurate information about water quality delivered by Sahuarita Water Co. (PWSIDAZ0410-312) and potential contamination risks. Some individuals may be more vulnerable to water contaminants than the general population, including those with compromised immune systems, cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, HIV/AIDS patients, elderly individuals, and infants.
All drinking water, including bottled water, may contain small amounts of contaminants, which doesn't necessarily indicate health risks. Water sources (tap and bottled) include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over land or underground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals, sometimes radioactive materials, and can pick up substances from animal presence or human activity.
To ensure tap water safety, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality regulates contaminant levels in public water systems. Similarly, FDA regulations establish limits for contaminants in bottled water to provide equivalent public health protection.
