We're proud to present this year's Annual Municipal Water Quality Report. This document explains the quality of water and services we provide to you daily.

Our goal is to deliver safe, reliable municipal water while encouraging your involvement in our ongoing efforts to improve water treatment processes and protect our valuable water resources.

Water Source Information: Sardis Water Association draws from six deep wells in the Wilcox Group Aquifer, which feed two treatment facilities. We also purchase treated surface water from Central Arkansas Water, sourced from Lake Winona and Lake Maumelle, both supplying Jackson Reservoir in Little Rock.

Water Safety Assessment: The Arkansas Department of Health has conducted Source Water Vulnerability Assessments for our water sources, rating them as medium to high susceptibility to contamination. These reports are available upon request.

Potential Contaminants: As water travels over land or underground, it can pick up various substances including:

• Microbial contaminants from sewage systems, livestock operations, and wildlife
• Inorganic contaminants like salts and metals occurring naturally or from urban runoff and industrial discharge
• Pesticides and herbicides from agricultural and residential uses
• Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes and petroleum production
• Radioactive substances that may occur naturally or result from oil/gas production

Health Considerations: While all municipal water contains some contaminants, this doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. However, immunocompromised individuals, cancer patients, transplant recipients, those with HIV/AIDS, the elderly, and infants may face greater risks. These individuals should consult healthcare providers regarding their water consumption.

Lead Information: Elevated lead levels can cause serious health issues, particularly for pregnant women and young children. Lead typically enters water through service lines and home plumbing materials. To minimize exposure, run your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking or cooking if it has been sitting for several hours.

1. Can I view the Annual Water Quality Reports online?
   Yes. You can access current and past water quality reports through our website or by contacting our customer service department.
2. Can I pay my water bill online?
   Currently, Sardis Water Association does not accept online payments, but we're working to implement this feature in the future.
3. Is the tap water safe to drink?
   Yes. Our municipal water is regularly tested according to Arkansas state standards and meets all safety requirements.
4. Why is my water bill unusually high?
   Unexpected increases may indicate water leaks, dripping faucets, toilet malfunctions, or water softeners stuck in backwash cycles. Summer lawn watering also significantly increases consumption. We encourage water conservation and prompt repair of all leaks.
5. When are water meters read?
   Meters are read three times annually, with bills sent in February, June, and October. Unpaid bills after March 24th will be added to your next property tax statement.
6. What is the water hardness level in our area?
   Hardness typically ranges between 9-15 grains per gallon or approximately 200-250 parts per million.
