About Us
Hawaiian Islands Water Service (Hawaii Water) is committed to delivering safe, high-quality tap water around the clock, every day of the year. As part of this commitment, we produce this annual water quality report detailing your water's source, composition, and compliance with federal and state standards.
Most importantly, we can confirm that in 2017, our water met or exceeded all standards established by the Hawaii Department of Health and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for public health protection.
Kona's water undergoes rigorous testing by both our laboratory and an independent, certified facility, checking for all pollutants regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act. Hawaii Water has provided quality utility services to the Kukio Resort since acquiring the system in December 2008 (previously operating through a service agreement).
Our Kukio customers receive water from five active groundwater wells located on the mauka (mountain) side of the resort. The system includes twelve storage tanks and one reverse-osmosis water treatment plant. The Hawaii Department of Health completed the initial draft of our source water assessment in March 2005. For more information, please contact our Customer Center at (808) 883-2046.

In 2012, Jordan Spieth was a championship collegiate golfer at the University of Texas, leading a talented Longhorns team to a #1 national ranking. Resort guests and local golf enthusiasts had the rare opportunity to watch the future world #1 player and Masters champion compete in that year's Amer Ari Intercollegiate tournament at Waikoloa Beach Resort.
This prestigious tournament—established in 1992—attracts the nation's top collegiate teams and players, serving as an important fixture in their annual schedule. "The Amer Ari marks the first event of the new year, always generating significant anticipation," explains Casey Martin, University of Oregon golf coach and former PGA Tour player. "With consistently strong competition, everyone's eager to launch their spring season positively. I encourage my players to prepare intensely, knowing the caliber of the event ahead. The Hawaiian location offers a welcome bonus for mainland players during winter months."
This year's field features 18 teams, including perennial powerhouses Georgia Tech, Auburn, USC, UCLA, and Stanford. Justin Suh, currently ranked #1 collegiate player nationally and defending individual medalist, is scheduled to compete with his USC teammates.
