About Us
The City of Warrenville has prepared this statement in accordance with Federal Safe Drinking Water Act requirements to inform residents about the source and safety of our municipal water. We're pleased to report that Warrenville's tap water met all United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) health standards this year, continuing our tradition of compliance. The city's system carefully protects our groundwater resources and had zero violations of contaminant levels or water quality standards in 2015.
This report summarizes the quality of water provided last year, including details about its source, contents, and how it compares to regulatory standards. We believe informed customers are our greatest allies in maintaining water quality.
If you have questions about this report or Warrenville's municipal water system, please contact John Satter, Utility Division Supervisor, at 630-836-3051, Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm. Committee of the Whole meetings addressing Community Development issues occur monthly at 7:00 pm in City Hall Council Chambers at 28W701 Manning Avenue. Meeting schedules are published in local papers, posted on bulletin boards at City Hall entrances, and available online at http://www.warrenville.il.us/Calendar.aspx?NID=1&FID=240. Water issues are discussed in open forums as needed.
Warrenville utilizes groundwater from five wells drilled into the Silurian-Dolomite aquifer (an underground geological formation containing water). These wells reach an average depth of 300 feet and are located across the city: Well 8 at the Country Ridge Dr. water tower near the hardware building; Well 9 at Warrenville Rd. and Lorraine St.; Well 10 at Batavia Rd. and Cherice Dr. in Summerlakes; Well 11 beside Bower School on River Rd.; and Well 12 at 3S000 Timber Drive between Warrenville Lakes and Timber Creek subdivisions. Most residences receive blended water from Wells 9, 10, 11, and 12, which use iron removal equipment to purify the water before distribution.
A source-water assessment by Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) indicates our groundwater is well-protected against contamination. This assessment is available for public viewing at City Hall or online at http://il-warrenville.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/2141.
Individuals with compromised immune systems—such as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplant recipients, people with HIV/AIDS, certain elderly individuals, and infants—may be more vulnerable to water contaminants and should take special precautions. USEPA/CDC guidelines are available through the Safe Drinking Water Hotline (1-800-426-4791) or at http:///www.epa.gov/safewater.
