About Us
Acton Municipal Utility District (AMUD) is dedicated to delivering residents a reliable supply of high-quality municipal water. We employ advanced equipment and testing procedures to ensure our water consistently meets all federal and state standards for safety and appearance.
This annual "Consumer Confidence Report," required by the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), provides information about your water source, test results, and important details about your municipal water supply.
Our Water Sources: Acton Municipal Utility District obtains surface water from Lake Granbury and groundwater from 24 wells throughout our district, drawing from the Trinity and Paluxy Aquifers. These sources are blended throughout our distribution system. Lake Granbury water undergoes treatment at the Brazos Regional Public Utility Agency SWATS Plant on Matlock Road off Highway 167.
Water Quality Information: All water sources (tap and bottled) naturally contain some level of minerals and, in some cases, contaminants from natural processes or human activities. The presence of contaminants doesn't necessarily indicate a health risk. The EPA sets strict limits on contaminant levels in public water systems to ensure safety.
Potential Contaminant Sources:
- Microbial contaminants (viruses, bacteria) from sewage systems, agriculture, and wildlife
- Inorganic contaminants (salts, metals) from natural sources or urban runoff
- Pesticides and herbicides from agriculture and residential use
- Organic chemical contaminants from industrial processes and petroleum production
- Radioactive components that can occur naturally or result from resource extraction
Some individuals may be more vulnerable to certain contaminants, particularly those with compromised immune systems, the elderly, infants, and those undergoing medical treatments. These individuals should seek advice from healthcare providers regarding water consumption.
AMUD was established by the Texas Water Commission on July 21, 1982, and serves residents of DeCordova/Acton, Pecan Plantation, and Indian Harbor areas. From our initial 2,000 households, we've grown to serve approximately 7,000 households with water quality that meets or exceeds all regulatory standards.
