- May I make payments? There are two types of payment options: 30-day pay plan and extended payment plan. All city tickets are 402 E. Laurel St.
- May I take a defensive driving course? Yes, but only for moving violations. You must provide a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License and valid insurance, and pay an administrative fee. You must furnish a Texas certified driving record.
- I have proof of insurance. Can this charge be dismissed? Yes, after verifying insurance was valid when the citation was received. It is illegal to provide the Court with a fictitious insurance card and incorrect mailing and physical address.
- Will you dismiss an expired motor vehicle inspection, expired registration tag and/or expired Texas driver's license? Yes, if it has not been expired more than 60 days and proof of renewal is provided. There will be a dismissal fee - contact Court Clerk.
- What if I request a trial? If you enter a plea of not guilty and request a trial date in writing, the Court will inform you of the trial date. You may request either a trial by judge or trial by jury.
- What are the rules of conduct and attire in Municipal Court? CONDUCT: Pursuant to section 46.03 of the Texas Penal Code and judicial order of the Municipal Court of Rockport, Texas, possession of any firearm, illegal knife, club or other weapon set forth in section 46.05 (a), Texas Penal Code, in the Municipal Court, City Hall building or any office used by the Municipal Court is strictly prohibited.
All persons entering the City Hall building or Municipal Court are subject to a search of their persons and property for prohibited weapons. All entrants to said buildings consent to the search.
To properly represent yourself in court, be aware of these rules:
- Be on time
- Address the Court as "Judge" or "Your Honor"
- Avoid disturbing or distracting the Court
- Children should remain quiet or they may be asked to leave
- Turn off all cell phones and pagers or set to vibrate
- Don't approach the bench without permission
- Don't lean on the judge's bench
- No food or drinks in the courtroom
ATTIRE: Unacceptable attire includes:
- Shorts and cut-offs
- Muscle shirts and clothing with offensive or suggestive content
- Clothing that is too tight or too short
- Hats must be removed before entering and while in the courtroom
