About AGPD: The Arroyo Grande Police Department comprises 29 dedicated full-time staff operating with a fiscal year 2018-2019 budget of $6.8 million. The department is supplemented by seven part-time employees including two Reserve Officers, two Neighborhood Services Technicians, one Training/Permit Technician, two Police Cadets, and ten Police Volunteers.
The Department maintains an excellent reputation within both the community and County, embracing community policing principles while focusing on quality of life and customer service. Organizationally, it features two major divisions - Patrol Services and Support Services - each led by a Commander and supported by the Chief of Police, Executive Secretary, five Police Sergeants, five Senior Officers, and thirteen Officers.
Crime rates in the area rank among California's lowest, with the Department responding to 17,137 recorded incidents in 2016 and 17,925 in 2017. Despite this workload, emergency response times have consistently remained under two minutes.
