About Your Municipal Water ~ Ashtabula County is pleased to provide the 2016 Consumer Confidence Record for the Ashtabula County Water Program (ACWS, Public Hydrant ID# OH400803) containing essential information about your tap water quality.

The ACWS maintains a current, unconditioned license to operate this distribution system under the direct authority of the Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners through the Ashtabula County Department of Environmental Services (ACDES). The Commissioners hold regular public meetings; residents with questions or concerns should first contact ACDES at (440)576-3722.

This report summarizes water quality provided by Ashtabula County in 2016, including information about water sources, what your tap water contains, and how it compares to standards set by regulatory agencies. Though only regulated substances detected in your water are listed, testing is performed for more than what's required for reporting.

Sources of Supply: Bulk water is purchased from Laurel Ohio Water Company - Ashtabula Water System, which draws surface water from Lake Erie to serve Ashtabula County Water System customers. For water assessment purposes, Ohio considers all surface waters susceptible to contamination as they're accessible and can be quickly contaminated by chemicals and pathogens with relatively short travel times from source to intake.

While Aqua Ohio's surface water intake is located offshore in Lake Erie, its proximity to onshore sources increases susceptibility to contamination from municipal wastewater discharges, industrial waste, urban runoff, contaminated sediments, oil/gas production, transportation operations, and recreational boating.

Aqua Ohio treats water to meet quality standards, but no single treatment method addresses all potential contaminants. Water quality protection measures for Lake Erie can further reduce potential impacts. Detailed information is available in Aqua Ohio Water Company's Water Source Assessment report by calling (440)576-3722.

The Ashtabula County Water System also maintains an auxiliary/emergency connection with Lake County Department of Utilities (LCDU). In 2016, ACWS used 2,182,664 gallons from this connection over approximately one month. For LCDU water quality information, contact them at (440)350-2645.
