The Bartlett Water System conducts daily water monitoring, 365 days per year, consistently exceeding Federal and State standards. While some tests are performed annually, others follow a three to five-year schedule. As shown in our data, we've identified only a few contaminants, all at levels deemed safe for consumption.

Residents of Shelby County and Bartlett Water System customers enjoy water that ranks among the purest worldwide. Our groundwater represents nature's ultimate recycling system – beginning as rainfall that gradually filtered through layers of sand and rock formations over many years.

Our primary mission is protecting water sources from contamination. We collaborate with Tennessee authorities to evaluate our water supply's vulnerability. The Tennessee Division of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has prepared a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP) Report for water supplies in our system.

The SWAP Report classifies public water supplies as reasonably vulnerable (high), moderately vulnerable (moderate), or somewhat susceptible (low) based on geological factors and nearby human activities. Bartlett Water System sources are categorized as slightly to moderately susceptible to potential contamination.

For SWAP details, visit www.tennessee.gov/environment/news/dwassess.HTML or contact us at 1-888-891-TDEC. Our wellhead protection plan is available for review by contacting Greg Engstrand, Water Treatment Division Manager, Monday through Friday at (901) 385-6499.

All water, including bottled varieties, naturally contains some trace contaminants. Their presence doesn't necessarily indicate health risks. For more information about contaminants and potential health effects, contact the EPA's Safe Water Hotline at 800-426-4791.

Bartlett Water System Municipal Water Report Info

The EPA sets and enforces standards for tap water quality through the Safe Drinking Water Act. These regulations establish limits for contaminants to ensure public health protection. The EPA requires all community water systems to provide annual Consumer Confidence Reports to their customers, detailing water source information, detected contaminants, compliance records, and health risk explanations.

These reports help residents understand what's in their water and make informed decisions about additional filtration needs. Local conditions can significantly affect water quality, so it's essential to review these reports regularly for changes in contaminant levels.
