Battleground Water Department
About Us
During summer peak months (June through September), Battle Ground water customers consume nearly 3 million gallons daily—more than double the average consumption throughout the rest of the year. This highlights the substantial amount of water being used for outdoor purposes and emphasizes the need for proactive water resource management.
To address this issue, the city has implemented a voluntary Odd/Even Watering System for all residential, industrial, and public customers from June through September:
- If your address ends in an odd number, water outdoors on SATURDAY, MONDAY, and WEDNESDAY only
- If your address ends in an even number, water on SUNDAY, TUESDAY, and THURSDAY only
- FRIDAY is a non-watering day for all residents
- Exceptions are granted for vegetable gardens, newly planted lawns, and potted or hanging plants
"An odd/even water management program is simple to implement, can save approximately half a million gallons of water daily, and is essential for maintaining safe water levels in the city's reservoir tanks," explained Public Works Director Scott Sawyer. Water resources are finite; during high-temperature days, local water demand can easily exceed production capacity. The city operates eight wells—the maximum permitted under state regulations—drawing water from the Troutdale and Sand & Gravel underground aquifers.
