Beckley Water Organization residents benefit from an abundant water supply from two distinct sources. The Glade Creek Water Treatment Plant extracts surface water from the Glade Creek Reservoir, which stores approximately 1.3 billion gallons of water. Residents south of Piney Creek receive water exclusively from this facility.

Our second water source is groundwater from a subterranean reservoir located about 275 feet below ground. The Sweeneysburg Water Treatment Plant, constructed in 1993, draws from this underground pool containing approximately 1 to 1.5 billion gallons, which is continuously replenished from various underground sources.

Together, our treatment facilities provide roughly 3.5 billion gallons of clean municipal water annually. Our water supply is part of the Lower Fresh Watershed, covering approximately 692 square miles around Beckley. Forested areas comprise most (98%) of our watershed.
